Did you know today is an important holiday? It’s National S’mores Day 2011! We love s’mores! Well, to be honest, we love anything with chocolate so s’mores are just another excuse to indulge. It is fitting that National S’mores Day is in August for two reasons: the best month to go camping and right before school is back in session. This holiday is dedicated to enjoying the sticky, messy deliciousness that is a melding of chocolate and marshmallow squished between crunchy graham cracker goodness. Did you know that the term s’mores first originated in the U.S. Girl Scouts handbook in 1927?  Here are some of our favorite S’mores photos!

How to Create 4th of July Cupcakes & Desserts

With Fourth of July around the corner, you may already be preparing your fabulous holiday spread! I shall be traveling home to Los Angeles for this summer holiday weekend, and I can’t wait to see the amazing patriotic dessert table my sister-in-law has created, a signature holiday touch for which she is known throughout our family!

This year, my sister-in-law will be using designer cupcake wrappers to hold all varieties of desserts. From her traditional moist 4th of July vegan cupcakes, to caramel popcorn, white chocolate pretzels and powdered donut holes, each handcrafted dessert will be beautifully presented in patriotic red, white and blue 4th of July designer cupcake wraps. She will use the vibrant reds and deep navy color palette through her table setting, to create the most amazing July 4th dessert table I’m sure we’ll ever have experienced!

Rachel Ochoa, of In The Now Weddings, recently created a similar spread for her Classic Americana design concept. Using Emma Navy Blue Cupcake Wrappers from Dress My Cupcake, and whole host of other incredibly creative patriotic touches, Rachel was able to add a modern twist on this classic American Fourth of July table setting and design.

How to Make Memorial Day Cupcakes

Memorial Day is around the corner, and with this noble holiday comes family gatherings, trips to the beach, and fireworks. This national federal holiday, celebrated to commemorate American soldiers who have died while in military service, takes place on the last Monday in May.

Memorial Day is often marked by large family get togethers and picnics. Naturally, food plays a huge role in this particular holiday. To keep your desserts nice and simple, especially for beach trips, vacations and picnics, cupcakes are a good option. These are easy to transport, do not require a knife and server set, and are fun for all ages — young and old alike. To make Memorial Day cupcakes, you can use the red, white and blue motif to create a swirled patriotic cake, fondant decorations, or applied decorations such as sprinkles or flowers. Another idea for making Memorial Day cupcakes is to simply keep the cupcake simple, and to dress it up in patriotic cupcake wrappers. Cupcake wrappers are simple, for presentation only, high quality cupcake wraps, that can easily transform your simple dessert into something sensational. The American Hero cupcake wrapper is a reversible designer cupcake wrap, with red white and blue stars on one side, and stripes on the other. For a younger, more festive look, try the Star Spangled cupcake wrapper, which features Red and Blue stars scattered on a white/silvery wrapper. For a more simple, couture design, the Emma Red, White and Blue cupcake wrapper trio is the perfect solution.

We wish you a safe and happy Memorial Day celebration with your family and friends this year! We invite you to share photos on our Facebook page!
